Definitely! I don't know if that's what they were going for when they wrote it, because some writers and crew are just blind to some things. But I think they knew what they were playing at! At least a little bit.
And if not they should listen to fandom and have them kiss. Because after all these John/James confrontations with all that pent up anger and lust...! They need to do that. Or, honestly, maybe more like WE need to see it.
