Oh. So that's the name I've been seeing around fic pairings: Charlotte Benoit. This is her. I was wondering if she was a character in the episode, or some OC, or if it was crossover fic with some other show. But she was indeed a character here. I guess I was correct in being slightly spoiled for the episode, then! Haha, if that counts - knowing a name and that people apparently ship it. I don't mind.
She's cute, anyway.

I'll try to calm down. It's shallow, really. I've been wearing slash goggles for so many years it feels like I live for slash half the time. I tend to be biased and give anything gay thumbs up. That's partly why I rooted for Helen/female early on. But overall mostly because Helen IS Helen, and of course she doesn't care, and she's been with both men and women in the past, of course. Also human or abnormals, doesn't matter. Of course! This we knew. Come, now.
And the interviews and hints just. Yes. I wanted it very badly. If ever they do that new romance for Helen, I thought and hoped, why not make it a woman? And now. Tadaa!
Oh god. I need to rewatch the last scene.
And then rewatch the episode forever.
General reaction:
All right.
I think this episode was a good mix of quirky and serious. I quite liked Abby standing up for herself, finally not being so barbie-like, and us generally getting to see several sides of her. Not only in this episode alone, but in the series overall. She's growing on me, I must admit.
Sadly Will is often my least favorite character. I don't actually dislike him in any way, but I can find him boring at times. But then there are random episodes such as this one in which I really didn't mind him at all. Abby was a bit of a bamf (Although perhaps not on Helen's level) and Henry was around a lot. I think that balanced it out well.
Although I have to say that Agent Glee Club being Awkwardly Dumb got a bit much at the end. Not that it felt like too much specifically at the end, but I mean more like... Episode overall. Yeah, stupid moron, ha-ha, we got it earlier, thank you.
I miss Kate already. It was empty without her.
And the random chicken references throughout the episode? What even! But I liked it, hahah. "Again with the chicken?"
Will/chicken, OTP. Just saying.
Seeing as how I loved Breach, I loved the theme of this episode. I never get tired of Die Hard plots. Helen running around tearing her sweater more and more until it's falling off her, kicking ass, pointing guns, being cheeky? Yes. What more can you ask for.
Honestly, I think the word for this episode is "balance".
Stranger guest stars, main cast, A and B plot, silly, dramatic, generally hot. Action, drama, romance. They basically covered it all, didn't they?
Some things were predicable, and some were not, and some were generally shady and I didn't really know what to think.
Mostly thinking of Charlotte when I say things were shady. I didn't really know what she was hiding. I was afraid she'd be some random sort-of-baddie for a while, which was their intention when they wrote the episode, I am sure. And the everlasting wonder of will they/won't they, regarding the chemistry between her and Helen.
I'm so used to seeing the word through my slash goggles I didn't even know if what I was seeing was real or not. I knew in advance that people shipped them, of course, but just a few minutes into the episode I understood why, and it didn't help clear up the will they/won't they question since shipping is beyond possible without it being romantically canon.
But they sure as heck did, and I loved it. Because A) I love Helen and I love that Helen was finally kissed properly for the first time in ages. She deserves it. I love her. Such a sweet soul, she has. And B) I am a shallow bitch and two hot chicks making out is hot.
Ignore mistakes if you find any, it's 03:29 in the morning. (Yes, I am insane, thank you for noticing. Also lots of pausing and typing. Took time to finish! And I am heading straight for bed after posting this, so I won't read through it.)
