Teh Story?

When I was... six, or something, we got a dog. Because my older brother reeeally wanted one, and Mother was all ":D". It was a German Shepherd and her name ended up being Kerrie :D And towards the end she was kind of fat and silly XD God, I love her! Perhaps "loved", depending on your point of view. I mean, she isn't around now because she passed away a couple years ago. But I still love her, you know? Does my logic make sense?
Maclogic is often strange.
I grew up with that dog, and, you know, it's hard not to love German Sheppy's after those 13 years of brainwash, or however long it was. I honestly don't remember how old she was. Fail
Then we fast forward to a few years after she (sadly enough :/) died. I'm ready to have another dog in my life! But I visit my friends a lot, and stay the night, and 90% of them have cats, and aahh! I wouldn't be able to bring the dog and everything would be inconvenient. So no dog for me. I considered a tiny dog. Like, say, a friend has a chihuahua and he is awesome :D And I love them!
But that'd just be... wrong. I'd rather have a big dog. Plus my cat hated him - the chihuahua - a little bit (though less later on) and it just wouldn't work D: I don't want my cats to be unhappy.
But if I had a small dog I'd at least be able to bring it wherever I wanted go.
Wait, I was supposed to keep this dog story short. If not for the readers... Then just for ME xp
Oh, well.
So, anyways, I came to the conclusion that I wouldn't be able to have a dog in my life right now. I'd just have to wait and make plans for the future, you know?
Besides, even if the cats would accept a doggie, Mother didn't want one in the house. Well, apartment. Except in a way she did ;p Because she missed it, toooo. But she simply refused to even consider the idea. Mostly because she's tired of doing the puppy thing. She's had several dogs in her life, and she says the first couple of years are always the hardest. So... No doggie.
BUT - of course - she wouldn't mind taking over an older dog... Or buying, or whatever, you know?
So we've been dreaming about that for about a year :D Thinking "what if"s and "if only"s. But we never really seriously looked anything up or anything.
Mother's been saying this to her work buddies since, like, last summer (08). That we're both itching to own a dog again and have compromised to make it an older replacement dog, if it ever were to happen.
So we talked about going to IKEA on Wednesday to have a look around. But I had plans with friends. So instead we decided to go to IKEA on Thursday.
Thursday morning we pack up (by 'pack up' I mean we grab our cells and keys and whatnot) and are about to head out the door when Mother is like "Argh, what's my phone doing?" (She is so extremely tech challenged!)
So I stop, turn around, she hands it to me and... It's vibrating. I poke it, it stops, and yeah... She received a text message when she switched it on. She asks what it says. It reads "Hey, Anita! :) There's an ad in the newspaper about a german shepherd looking for a new home. That something for you, maybe? /Christina"
And I'm all seekritli ":DD"
Then Mother is all ":o"
And then I'm all "... ...Can't we... check it out, at least? I mean, seriously."
"Yea', alright!"

I was expecting a no. I know what we said... But, in the end I figured it'd be a no. Or a shady 'perhaps', or something. I felt all "Who are you and what have you done with my mother?"-ish.
Now, we don't get that particular newspaper delivered to us so we stopped by a gas station thingie store to pick it up. Lol. Then we parked and made the call :D And everything seemed awesomely perfect and we decided to go have a look at her the following day.
It was this older man. Really tragic story :/ His wife died in cancer a year ago, and now he was sick. I'm not sure what what wrong with him. He'd had surgery and everything and was going in for another one soon. So he really couldn't care for the dog the way he wanted to. So he thought someone could take care of her for a while, and if everything worked out, buy her all officially, yeah?
:D So we went and had a look. It was little over an hour drive away, which was far-ish, but so worth it. He lived in this cute little village and had a nice, random family living next door :D Their daughter was four and she was running around everywhere. Such energy! She showed me HER dog, and her house, and I met her mom, and she had dinosaurs all over the floor in her room XD I dig that gal! Dinosaurs ftw!
(OH! Right. Which is also a thing to mention. Later.)
That man had a cat :D So the dog's used to cats. = Yay for us! The Dinosaur Child ran around playing with her, too, so she's used to children. This dog is pretty much the most awesome dog ever! She doesn't mind other animals at all, and she is a doll to walk.
Then we decided to take her home to try it out :D We exchanged contact information, so he could check up on her if he wanted to. THEN WE WENT HOME AND MAH CAT R LIEK ILU DOG!
Which I really didn't expect. Mother's cat is THAT cat. He loves all people and animals. My cat is the cat with teh hatered. Which is funny, because she's THE cuddliest sweetheart ever with me/other people, at times. But noo, it worked out fine :D
Mother's cat is still hiding most of the time, but he's sneaking around every now and then. He just needs a few days to adjust, I hope.
SO OMGWTH WE HAVE A DOG! We are so keeping her, since things seem to work out :D
Her name is Bell, and she is four years old. She's super awesome and really kind :) After just one and half day, we're such close friends already.

Yeah, so those are the pictures I've taken so far. Not best ever, but now you know how she looks like at least.
Yay. She gives me a happy! She's so cute.
She is three times as adorable in real life, when you can actually look into her eyes.
In other news I'm going to Stockholm in October to see Walking with Dinosaurs, the arena spectacular! :D WHEEE NERD FUN! It's my birthday present. I suggested it. Because it'll be all expensive flying there, staying at a hotel, and the tickets to the show. (WHICH I RECEIVED A FEW WEEKS AGO WOO!)
BUT LIEK- ROBOT DINOSAURZ! With a little imagination they can appear almost slightly real XD
Oh, dear. I had something else to say, but I forgot it.
I WILL UPDATE LATER WHEN I THINK OF MORE STUFFZ!
